Telehealth and Billing

Telehealth Consultations are available to patients who have seen any Doctor within the practice for no less than 12 months and must be registered at the clinic to be eligible to be Bulk Billed for the consultation.

If the patient doesn’t fit the above criteria a private Telehealth Consultation can be booked that will be charged at $85.00. This can be claimed through Medicare.

Appointments

Online appointment bookings are available via the practices website www.flmc.com.au or over the phone (08) 9493 3146. Urgent cases are seen on the day. Booking a long appointment is important for more complex problems – insurance medical, health review, counselling, a second opinion, etc. This may involve a longer wait. Please bring all relevant information. Please notify us if you are unable to attend an appointment, well in advance. If more than one person from your family wishes to see the doctor at the same time, please ensure a separate appointment is made for each family member.

Managing Walk-In Consultation

Walk-in consultations may be accommodated when:

  • A clinician is available.
  • The patient’s condition requires timely assessment.
  • The consultation can be safely incorporated into the clinical schedule.

The practice cannot guarantee immediate access to a clinician for patients who attend without an appointment.

Patients may experience waiting times that vary according to:

  •  Clinical urgency of other patients.
  •  Practitioner availability.
  •  Unexpected emergencies.

Alternative Care Option

Where the practice cannot accommodate a walk-in patient, staff may recommend:

  • A same-day appointment at another medical practice.
  • After-hours medical services.
  • Urgent Care Clinics.
  • Telehealth services where clinically appropriate.
  • Emergency departments for urgent medical concerns.

Information provided will be appropriate to the patient’s clinical needs and circumstances.

Interpreter Service

For patients experiencing language difficulties a translator can be arranged. Please discuss this need with the reception staff when making your appointment.

Test Results Policy

Results are reviewed by the doctor and acted on in a timely manner, with your health in mind.

We will contact you if an urgent appointment is required.

If the Doctor would like to discuss your results an SMS message will be sent asking to arrange another appointment.

If your results are normal then you will not hear back regarding your results but you are more than welcome to arrange an appointment to discuss.

Recalls and Reminders

Because our practice is committed to preventive care, we may send you an occasional reminder regarding health services appropriate to your care. If you wish to opt out of this, please let us know.

Referrals

Doctors in this practice are competent at handling common health problems. When necessary, they can use opinions from Specialists. You can discuss this openly with your doctor, including potential out of pocket expenses. Despite our best intentions, we sometimes run late! This is because someone has needed unexpected urgent attention. Thank you for your consideration.
